Daily Bits of Comparisons: 2 Chronicles 20:1-31: (AKJV)
The children of Moab, Ammon, and others joined together to come against Jehoshaphat, King of Judah, to battle. Some came to warn him that a great multitude from beyond the sea is coming against Judah and Jerusalem. so Jehoshaphat feared and set his face to seek the Lord and declared a fast throughout all Judah. Jehoshaphat stood before the New Court and gathered Judah together to pray. All cities came to pray. ______. Jehoshaphat's Prayer: O Lord God of our fathers: "Are you not the God of Heaven that rules over all kingdoms of the heathen? In Your hands are all Power and Might. None is able to withstand You! You drove out the heathen before Your people Israel and gave the Land to the seed of Abraham, Your friend forever. They have built a Sanctuary for Your Name, saying: "When evil comes upon us like the sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine, we stand before this House, in Your presence, and cry unto You in our affliction, then You will hear and You will help. (For Your Name is in this House!) Now the countries You would not let Israel invade are coming after us. We turned from them and destroyed them not! Now they reward us by coming to cast us out of Your possession which You have given us to inherit! O God, will you not judge them? We have no might against this great company coming against us. Our eyes are on You for know not what to do!" (end of prayer) All Judah stood before the Lord with their wives and children. Then in the midst of the congregation came the Spirit of the Lord upon Zechariah, a Levite. And he said: "Hearken all Judah, inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: This the Lord says to you: "Be not afraid, nor dismayed, by reason of this great multitude. For the battle is not yours, but God's. Tomorrow goes down against them. You do not need to fight in this battle. Stand still and see the Salvation of the Lord with you. O Judah and Jerusalem, fear not. For the Lord will be with you." _______. Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground. All Judah fell down and worshipped the Lord. The Levites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high. Early in the morning, they rose and Jehoshaphat stood and said: "Hear me, O Judah and Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God. So shall you be established. Believe His prophets. So shall you prosper." When he had consulted with the people he appointed singers unto the Lord that should praise the Beauty of His Holiness as they went out before the enemy army to say: "PRAISE THE LORD FOR HIS MERCY ENDURES FOREVER!" When they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushments against the enemy armies that came against Judah, and the enemy was smitten. All the enemy armies destroyed each other and when Judah came to the Watch Tower in the wilderness they looked and saw the multitude of dead bodies of the enemies. None escaped! ______. When Judah came to take away the spoil of the enemy they found an abundance of great riches among the dead bodies. For three days they carried away their riches. On the 4th day, they assembled in the valley and blessed the Lord. Then they returned to go again to Jerusalem with joy. For the Lord had made them rejoice over their enemies. They came unto the House of the Lord in Jerusalem with harps and trumpets. _______. The fear of God was in all the kingdoms of those countries which had heard how the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel. So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet. For God had given them rest. When Jehoshaphat began to reign he was 35 years old. He reigned for 25 years in Jerusalem.
