LEADERSHIP DONALD RUMSFELD 2021JULY...DEAD AT 88...ONE OF LAST OLD GUARD OF SECOND WORLD WAR.

With the recent passing of Donald Rumsfeld, we mourn the loss of a Great American Patriot and one of the leading public servants of our time. He was also a personal friend and a friend to Hillsdale College.

Born in Chicago and a graduate of Princeton, Don Rumsfeld served as an aviator in the U.S. Navy before being elected to Congress four times from Illinois’s 13th congressional district. Over the course of nearly 40 years, he served in important offices under Presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and George W. Bush—including twice as Secretary of Defense.

He was also a devoted husband and father who loved and served his family his entire life. He and his wife Joyce married 67 years, have three children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Secretary Rumsfeld spoke at the College and at College events on several occasions. Below is a link to a talk he gave in 2014, entitled “Leadership Lessons in Business, Politics, War, and Life.” It displays his well-known wit, humor, and kindness, as well as his love for our country and its people.

Hillsdale College is an independent institution of higher learning founded in 1844 by men and women “grateful to God for the inestimable blessings” resulting from civil and religious liberty and “believing that the diffusion of learning is essential to the perpetuity of these blessings.” It pursues the stated object of the founders: “to furnish all persons who wish, irrespective of nation, color, or sex, a literary, scientific, [and] theological education” outstanding among American colleges “and to combine with this such moral and social instruction as will best develop the minds and improve the hearts of its pupils.” As a nonsectarian Christian institution, Hillsdale College maintains “by precept and example” the immemorial teachings and practices of the Christian faith.

Keep on seeking the truth, rally your friends and family and expose as much corruption as you can… every little bit helps add pressure on the powers that are no more.
