Mueller’s Team Shrinks By Two
As the Mueller investigation continues to drag on, two of the lawyers on said team have left.
The Robert Mueller special investigation continues to drag on, and although it has finally claimed two successful prosecutions in court, both prosecutions have nothing to do with claims of Russian conspiracy or ‘collusion.’ However, more interesting than that is the fact that two prosecutors for his team just walked out the door.
While both of the lawyers were relatively junior members of the team, they were frequently in the spotlight. Both also worked on court cases that resulted from the investigation into allegations of Russian interference and ‘collusion.’ As the lawyers left, the team denied the ‘political allegations’ had anything to do with their departure.
Peter Carr, a spokesman for the group, refused to explain on Thursday what their leaving could possibly mean for the investigation.
During the summer, as the Mueller team produced more criminal charges, other portions of the Department of Justice took on the work of prosecution.
The U.S. Attorney’s office in Washington D.C., for example, took on some of the roles of prosecuting individuals charged through the investigation, such as Paul Manafort.
Carr did say, however, that neither Ryan Dickey nor Brian Richardson left the case due to allegations of political bias, unlike the series of events that led to the departure of Peter Strzok(and to his eventual dismissal from the Federal Bureau of Investigation).
