It would appear as though John McCain has accepted the fact his days left on this earth are numbered.
McCain’s son-in-law, Ben Domenech, stated the Senator and the former presidential candidate is “reflecting at the end on a lot of different things.”
Domenech also stated Senator McCain was “grateful for the chances and fortune that he’s experienced in life.”
Dying Days
One would hope to focus on the positive things in life when the final days had arrived, but that does not seem to be the case with McCain.
Even with death on his doorstep, he made sure his anti-Trump thoughts were recorded for posterity.
Everyone was hoping he would use this time to make an effort to unite the party, but that is obviously now what has happened.
McCain himself had acknowledged he may not even be around for the publishing of his memoirs.
However, he was adamant in making sure everyone knew the book would contain several anti-Trump stances.
Hero or Villain
McCain presents a bit of a challenge to today’s conservative.
And by that, I mean the conservatives standing tall behind their president.
Nobody is denying McCain is a wartime hero.
One can only imagine the horrible treatment he endured in the name of his country while being held as a POW.
Furthermore, the man has been awarded, among others, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with Valor, the Purple Heart, and Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor.
While not popularized now, McCain actually refused to be released before any men captured before him were released.
He has faced down adversity time and again as a warrior and has managed to come out on top every time.
But, then there is his political service.
While serving in office as a Republican, he has turned heads more than a few times with his agenda.
However, his service record has shielded him from being questioned more often than not.
Sadly, his time on this earth is coming to an end, but so is his style of politics.
