AG Garland Caught in a Lie?
Apparently, Biden’s DOJ views parents objecting to its leftist agenda as domestic terrorists despite Garland’s denial.
Back on October 21, Attorney General Merrick Garland appeared before the House Judiciary Committee to answer questions regarding his October 4 directive creating a task force to coordinate with local authorities in investigating instances of parents “threatening” school administration officials, teachers, or staff. Garland’s directive came on the heels of a letter sent by the National School Boards Association to the Biden administration in which the NSBA requested action against parents it labeled as “domestic terrorists” for vehemently voicing their opposition to Critical Race Theory, “transgender” promotion, and masking mandates.
During questioning, Garland admitted that the NSBA letter was the primary basis for his speech-squelching directive. He defended his action by arguing, “I think all of us have seen these reports of violence and threats of violence — that is what the Justice Department is concerned about.” When pressed, Garland insisted: “I do not think that parents getting angry at school boards for whatever reason constitutes domestic terrorism. It’s not even a close question.” And yet, even when it was noted that the NSBA apologized for its letter and that there’s scant evidence supporting the narrative that school board members are being subjected to criminal threats, Garland refused to rescind his directive.
Well, the reason for Garland’s refusal to rescind has finally become apparent. Joe Biden’s White House was coordinating with the NSBA prior to the infamous letter labeling parents domestic terrorists. This revelation raises a big question: Was the Biden administration simply responding to the NSBA, or did the Biden administration orchestrate this letter with the NSBA as a cover for its decision to send the DOJ after parents?
On Tuesday, House Judiciary Committee Republicans revealed they received an email from a DOJ whistleblower alleging that the FBI was already moving forward in targeting parents. The whistleblower shared an internal email showing that the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division had created a new “threat tag” titled “EDUOFFICIALS” for tracking “instances of related threats.”
According to the DOJ memo: “We ask that your offices apply the threat tag to investigations and assessments of threats specifically directed against school board administrators, board members, teachers, and staff. The purpose of the threat tag is to help scope this threat on a national level and provide an opportunity for comprehensive analysis of the threat picture for effective engagement with law enforcement partners at all levels.”
Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH)
Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) sent a letter to Garland challenging the honesty of his previous testimony. “The whistleblower disclosure calls into question the accuracy and completeness of your testimony before the Committee,” Jordan wrote. “At best, if we assume that you were ignorant of the FBI’s actions in response to your October 4 memorandum at the time of your testimony, this new evidence suggests that your testimony to the Committee was incomplete and requires additional explanation. If however, you were aware of the FBI’s actions at the time of your testimony, this evidence shows that you willfully misled the Committee about the nature and the extent of the Department’s use of counterterrorism tools to target concerned parents at school board meetings.”
Jordan further demanded to know if the FBI “has used or is using counterterrorism resources or tools for the purpose of investigation, tracking, or prosecuting threats related to school board meetings.” He added, “This disclosure provides specific evidence that federal law enforcement operationalized counterterrorism tools at the behest of a left-wing special interest group against concerned parents.”
Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) observed, “If this is accurate, parents are getting the domestic terrorist treatment after all.”
Like Barack Obama, Biden is politicizing and weaponizing the executive branch against his political opponents and the American people. While Garland may have claimed otherwise, the FBI appears to have moved forward on classifying parents as potential domestic terrorists.
