Harris Plays Loose With Truth During Debate
Is playing loose with the facts acceptable for Democrats? It sure seems that way after watching Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) debate Vice President Mike Pence (R) on Wednesday, October 7.Voters understand that debating is considerably difficult; there is a lot coming at a candidate and that there is a tremendous amount of information to remember. No one can fault a debater for getting small facts wrong here and there.
However, Democrats tried for years to prove that Donald Trump was a liar. By doing so, they created a high bar for themselves. One they should be especially careful not to recreate.
On at least six occasions, Harris purposely lied. She denied using words that came out of her very mouth despite all of the videos on YouTube waiting to be used against her and Biden. She purposely contradicted herself on fracking, taxes, the Green New Deal, and claimed it was Trump’s fault for the economic downturn.
Let’s look at the facts.
Fracking
During the debate, Harris denied ever saying that she or Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said they would ban fracking. She said during the debate, “First of all, I will repeat, and the American people know, that Joe Biden will not ban fracking. That is a fact.”
But is it a fact? Consider what both candidates said on the issue:

But is it a fact? Consider what both candidates said on the issue:
Taxes and Green New Deal
Harris repeated Biden’s talking point of there not being new taxes for those making less than $400,000. However, that deserves a massive Pinocchio. For one, their expanded Obamacare plan is loaded with taxes on the middle class. Sen. Pat Toomey’s (R-PA) website exposed how the middle class is hit hard.
If Biden expands Obamacare, here’s how the government benefits and the middle class loses:1.Individual Mandate generates $35 billion in new tax revenues.
2.Chronic care tax generates $36 billion while lowering the deduction for chronic care; thus, taking money away from individuals and families suffering from ongoing ailments.

3.Medical device tax generates $20 billion, which will be passed on to patients.
4.The health insurance tax of $144 billion in revenue contributes to increased premiums.
5.Prescription drug tax generates $26 billion in revenue passed on to the middle class.
6.Medicare tax generates $59 billion due to the 0.9% payroll surtax.
However, that’s not all. Harris promised to provide free college to every American making less than $125,000 per year and forgive $10,000 in student loan debt. The plan is similar to those proposed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). It’s estimated to cost between $1.25 to $2.2 trillion over 10 years.
Add to that the cost of the Green New Deal. You remember, the one that Harris denied agreeing with despite the fact she was the lead sponsor of it in the Senate and it’s referenced as the foundation for their climate change plan on the Biden/Harris website. The resulting debt could grow as high as an additional $21 trillion over the next decade. The government may only be able to pay the interest, not the principal.
So, ask yourself, where will the government get the money?
Billionaires hold approximately $3 trillion in total assets. The government currently has over $20 trillion in debt, not to mention the additional $21 trillion that’s forecasted. Where does the government get over $40 trillion?
At least Bernie Sanders admitted he would have to tax the middle class.
Is Trump to Blame for the Economy?
Harris and Biden are claiming that the president is responsible for the economy being in bad shape. However, in April and May, Trump said the cure can’t be worse for the disease and called for governors to open their state economies. Despite this request, governors kept their state economies closed much longer than Trump wanted, and Democrats heavily criticized him for wanting to open the economy sooner.America is made of two sovereign entities: the federal government and the states. How the states choose to deal with the pandemic is largely up to them — the president has no say in their internal affairs. However, whether one wants to blame Trump or governors may be missing the point. Economists agree that the pandemic is to blame, not Trump.
Biden and Harris want their cake and to eat it, too. In theory, they can’t have it both ways, unless voters ignore what happened last spring and reward them for misrepresenting the recent past.
There was Even More…
Harris also took liberty with Abraham Lincoln’s history. Lincoln never said he wasn’t appointing a Supreme Court nominee at the end of his term because he wanted the people to have their say in an election. In October 1864, the Senate wasn’t in session, and Lincoln didn’t have a choice in the matter.Like Biden, she also refused to answer the question about stacking the Supreme Court.
Harris and Biden have a compulsive need to misrepresent the facts, and even blatantly lie. While they go around calling the president a liar, the kettle is calling the pot black. That could be dangerous if you’re trying to establish a moral high ground yet are participating in the same activities as those being condemned.
Do voters care?
Let’s hope so.
