Dan Crenshaw rips Hank Johnson for attack on Trump supporters: 'Cowardly form of politics'
Texas Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw on Sunday slammed Rep. Hank Johnson for engaging in a “cowardly form of politics” after the Georgia Democrat compared President Trump to Adolf Hitler and characterized the president’s supporters as old, uneducated and racist.
Mr. Crenshaw tweeted a video Sunday evening in response to Mr. Johnson’s anti-Trump screed he gave last week at an NAACP event celebrating the anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. In his speech, Mr. Johnson drew multiple parallels between Mr. Trump and Hitler, as well as the Republican Party and the Nazi Party. He also claimed that the president’s supporters “want to return America back to a time where white men and white privilege were unchallenged.”

Donald Trump’s supporters are older, less educated, less prosperous, and they are dying early,” Mr. Johnsonsaid Tuesday at Atlanta’s Friendship Baptist Church. “Their lifespans are decreasing and many are dying from alcoholism, drug overdoses, liver disease or simply a broken heart caused by economic despair.”
Mr. Crenshaw said Sunday that Mr. Johnson should “stop insulting” the millions of Americans who voted for the president and pick on someone his “own size.”
“If you want to insult President Trump, at least you’re picking on somebody your own size. At least you’re picking on somebody who can fight back,” the newly elected congressman said. “But you went onto insult, degrade, and demean tens of millions of Americans who voted for him, to call them drug-addicted, uneducated, unhappy alcoholics.”
“This is a cowardly form of politics,” he added. “This is not the behavior we expect from a member on Congress.”
Mr. Crenshaw also said Mr. Johnson’s Hitler analogies are “intellectually dishonest” and a “huge insult to the millions of Jews who died under Nazi Germany.”
