DEMOCRATS HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THE LAW AND WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO WIN THERE CASE, CASE IN POINT.
Cory Booker released 'confidential' emails earlier today, in a 'bold' move. Except the emails had been cleared and were no longer classified. |
Cory Booker Releases ‘Confidential’ Emails That Were Cleared Last Night
Senator Booker didn't seem interested in mentioning that the documents he was releasing were not classified and had been cleared for release.
The Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, day one involved allegedly staged ‘demonstrations’ and day two included Dianne Feinstein lying about her background. However, day three took a different turn.
On Thursday morning, a defiant Senator Cory Booker dramatically declared that he would ‘violate’ Senate rules and publish emails marked “committee confidential.” Now, however, it turns out that his claims were nothing but boastful bravado and pandering.
The cold, hard truth slashed Booker’s “Spartacus” moment because the ‘confidential’ emails had already been released. In fact, he knew about it before he went through his civil rights charade. It almost seems like he didn’t expect voters to actually read that the papers weren’t classified.
More hilarious still, Jon Thune suggested that this was all political grandstanding and Booker was making his presidential run.
Earlier this morning, Senator Booker, a Democrat Senator from New Jersey, bragged that he was committing an act of “civil disobedience,” and that he was going to “knowingly” violate Senate rules in releasing a confidential email chain.
He said that he was going to release a Judge Brett Kavanaugh email concerning “racial profiling,” and that he understood the penalty for doing so could be as extreme as expulsion from the Senate.
Booker also humblebragged that this was the closest moment in his life to an “I am Spartacus” moment.
However, it turns out that Senator Cory Booker, who is allegedly eyeing a presidential run in 2020, didn’t actually break any rules of the Senate.
Republicans on the Judiciary Committee said that they worked with the George W. Bush presidential library and the Department of Justice through the night in order to clear the emails.
The restrictions on the emails that Booker sent out were waved early on Thursday morning
Perhaps, however, he didn’t get the memo or wasn’t aware that the emails he so ‘bravely’ sent out at the risk of his Senate career weren’t actually putting him in any risk at all.
Bill Burck, a lawyer for George W. Bush who was involved in the process of clearing the documents, was able to shed some light on whether or not Booker knew.
He said that the documents were cleared last night shortly after the New Jersey Senator’s staff asked for the documents to be cleared.
Furthermore, Burck said that he was surprised by Booker‘s “histrionics this morning,” as they had already informed him that he could use the documents publicly.
A spokesman for the committee Republicans suggested that he just wanted to “break the rules and make a scene,” and Senator Jon Thune, a Republican from South Dakota, said that clearly, “he is running for president.”
Booker made this scene ostensibly so he could release 12 pages of emails for public perusal.
These emails contained a post-9/11 discussion about racial profiling.
The emails, sent in 2002, were a discussion of security measures, and Brett Kavanaugh said that he “generally” preferred race-neutral security measures.
However, he also said that they needed to deal with the interim question of what to do in the meanwhile until a truly race-neutral set of measures could be developed.
Kavanaugh wrote that the ‘interim question’ was particularly important given the timing of Al-Qaeda attacks in the past, meaning the interim measures, imperfect as they might be, would likely be in place when terrorists next tried to get on a plane and wreak havoc.
That certainly doesn’t seem like a wild endorsement of racially profiling possible terrorists, but rather an admission of the reality that, in the short-term, a system that involved such profiling was likely to arise.
When Booker made his ‘brave stand,’ he did so with the support of a number of Democrats, including Dick Durbin of Illinois.
Orrin Hatch, a Republican from Utah, summed up the overall tone of the room, saying that, while these hearings are supposed to be an opportunity for the American people to hear from the nominee for the Supreme Court, it seemed that “the political left have decided to try to turn this hearing into a circus.”
It certainly seems absurd to suggest that Cory Booker, who has a law degree from Yale University and studied at the University of Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship, would not be smart enough to check his email and find out that the documents had, in fact, been cleared for public consumption.
It certainly doesn’t seem like a bold political move, done out of a desire to make sure that the people were well-informed.
Indeed, it sounds more like an act of naked pandering, an attempt to get Booker’s name out in advance of the Presidential primary, than it does some sort of bold or noble act.
Since the rest of the Democrats seem to be happily abusing the confirmation hearings to posture, it only makes sense that he would do so as well.
