McCain has once again proved to conservatives they are right in wanting him to give up his Senate seat sooner rather than later.
In his soon-to-be-released memoir, “The Restless Wave,” McCain openly admits he wished he had chosen Joe Lieberman as his running mate instead of Sarah Palin.
The ‘Mistake’
As far as McCain is concerned, this was one of the biggest mistakes of his political career.
By admitting this, he has also proven to everyone he truly is a RINO.
There is a reason McCain was warned against Lieberman.
Lieberman had a reputation for being far too cozy with Democrats.
In addition, he was pro-abortion.
Put those two things together and it is a recipe for disaster for any conservative trying to win the White House.
2008 Presidential Campaign
Instead of Lieberman, as everyone now knows, he chose Palin.
At the time, Palin was an up and coming conservative that helped McCain tap into female voters.
It was not Palin that hurt McCain during the election, it was McCain himself.
McCain had the backing of the establishment, but not of true conservatives.
That was obvious in the election results themselves.
In several traditionally red states where Republicans are expected to win running away, McCain barely took the vote.
In battleground states, McCain was lucky to get away with a single win.
Conservatives simply did not trust McCain to represent them properly, and he lost because of it.
McCain’s behavior and attitude during the Trump run to the White House have proven conservatives that chose not to put McCain in the White House were right not to do so.
